Wow….over 2 weeks and no word from Jason. No news what-so-ever.
At this point, it seems to me that no news is not a good sign. It is like he has completely dropped out of his own career.
Even if he is writing songs and “taking meetings” he needs to keep his fan base involved by doing date nights at least! To not do those as frequently as he can is very strange to me. Is it that he has nothing new to tell us, and so is balking at having to do another “same old, same old” vlog? Or is it that he doesn’t really want all this “fame stuff” anymore?
If he truly wants a career, he needs to do something….anything! Play some venues in Dallas–NOW not in a few months! Why would anyone let their fan base down like this continually? And when he does do a vlog, there isn’t even a bulletin about it. Is this arrogance? Are we expected to be so devoted that we will continually search for a single word from him?
This is a very bad sign. It is a sign that HE is not that concerned about keeping his fans. Fans will eventually go elsewhere for someone to crush on. You can’t just ignore the fan base willy nilly…especially at this juncture of “his career”.
Truthfully? I am very very disappointed in him. He seems so disconnected concerning the direction of his career. I don’t care how many songs he is writing, or how many meetings he is taking (btw, I take a number of meetings a week too, but it doesn’t mean I have a music career), you cannot just ignore your fans if you expect to keep them.
he’ll be back, give the guy a break, he doesn’t owe us anything,especially his free time. I’m sure he is busy working. what other artists keep in touch with their fans all of the time, you hear from them when they have a CD to sell.
Making excuses for him is not going to help him. This is just self-destructive and there IS NO excuse.
He is NOT a big star….hardly….geezus..wake up!
i agree with you zelda. i think it’s wierd he’s not putting himself out there. i think he should be playing on college campuses NONSTOP. i also think he should be vlogging and posting CONSTANTLY….he could play songs on his vlog…new songs, old songs, doesn’t matter- it’s free advertising. keeping it all a secret is strange and i don’t think in his best interest. i hope he’s getting good professional advise.
i’m a huge fan. but i worry that all he’s got is a gig with patti labelle. PATTI LABELLE? she’s my mother’s generation….he’s got to be gigging to the young folk.
He clearly is NOT getting much professional advice as the blunders mount.
I saw David Archulet’as recent blog and he simply had cute photos of himself in the dentist’s chair. Blogs and Vlogs don’t have to even be career oriented. Just keep putting SOMETHING out there!

Jason gave and gives more to his fans than most other celebrities or upcoming celebrities do. You have been spoiled by his consideration and his goodness and you are impatient.

I saw this post on a Google Alert. I agree with you on many points. I feel like a lot of us got pumped up and perhaps overly invested in pushing his career further than he may have wanted to go. He seems to be very laid back and maybe not as ambitious or driven as some fans would like him to be. It’s frustrating for the fans who had higher expectations, and I can totally see where you’re coming from.
I applaud you for not being afraid to share your opinion. I think there are probably a lot of fans who would agree with you but may not feel comfortable speaking out.
Ever since I left the fan boards, I have been able to focus on more important things in my life. I would never fly across the country and spend tons of money to see Jason. If he were to perform near my home, then maybe I would go see him. If he puts out a CD, I’d buy it. I won’t spend money to join the fan club because I’m not 13 years old anymore. Sorry if that sounds like I’m dissing other fans who do those things, but I was really starting to feel silly as a grown woman investing as much time as I did on a 21-year-old American Idol contestant.
Anyway, maybe one day he’ll surprise everyone and take his career in a completely different direction than we ever expected. Best of luck to him.

it is that you do not understand the music business, legalities, restraints, etc etc. Jason connects with his fans on a personal level — how many “celebrities” do that at all?
How many other’s off American Idol actually get to have something out there and get back in the public immediately, other than those pushed by 19 Management?
Jason has been “gone” for only weeks and he is working on what needs to be worked on — if you understood what it takes, rather than your assuming how he should be proceeding according to your own timetable, you would stop being so critical that “HE” and “everyone” doesn’t do things according to ZELDA’S MINDSET.

so apparently the conniving and greedy folks behind 19e are threatening to block the release of his album b/c of the contract he signed with them while pursuing ai. what’s upsetting is that this kid wasn’t even selected by them, they passed him up, yet they still have an iron grip hold on this kid’s career. he has so many reasons to release his album, one of which is to release his album before his mother passes away, who is currently suffering from terminal cancer. now, the speculation is to why 19e is so cut throat in regards to josiah is that he’s been publicly vocahttp://zeldastraighttalk.wordpress.com/2008/10/22/has-jason-castro-dropped-out-of-his-own-career/l about ai and it’s manipulative schemes and money-hungry tactics plus he’s been promoting his album which is an equivalent to a cardinal sin in ai’s books. therefore my speculation about jason’s subtle hints and reticent demeanor about everything that is going on are probably due to his contract written in the boy’s blood. josiah didn’t even make it to the top 24 and they’re gunning after him, making it their top priority to kill his career before it even started so one can imagine what death grip they have on jason. so i ask all jason fans to be patient and let’s wait and see. i’m confident we’ll hear more concrete information once the davids release their albums. and remember jason’s always been a pacifist so he probably doesn’t want to cause any discord with ai and one can understand why. so, let’s just take a breather and wait. like the old sayings…good things come to those who wait. it’s just i’m not getting any older so jason, you better release something soon:-)

You would think it would be in American Idol’s self-interest to see as many of their contestants make it as possible. It only makes their contest that much more credible.
Not sure I buy this. They don’t have any legal means to stop him now that the contract with them has ended.
