Well, the stories from Garland are drifting in. And while the show itself was great, the politics and struggling for recognition from the Castros is even worse than ever. I find myself glad that I was not there!
This began to be a noticeable problem to me when I heard one of my dreadhead friends upset over Jason leaving a personal comment on Rosequeen’s myspace page. She felt upset that he singled her out, just as others have felt that in the datenights, fans who gave money and presents were being singled out. This is NOT a smart way to act around your fans. You cannot play favorites.
Kali and a few more “special fans” got special time with Jason at B & N and at the Meet-N-Greet. While most people got seconds with him these people got time for a real conversation. Why are some people being treated as special in his fan base?
What in the world are these Castro’s thinking?! I find myself glad I was not there. I would have been very hurt and angry at this special treatment. What makes these fans so special?
The one thing they all have in common is that they participate in ways that make them important, such as running a web site, or that are the over the top fans that see everything Castro as God given OKEY DOKEY.
They best wise up. Turning off your fans by giving special treatment to some fans over and over again is nothing but a turn off to the thousands of fans you actually NEED to buy CDs and more.
My God. There is no fool quite like a vain fool. And I expect Betsy is just loving all of the ass kisses she receives from these folks. This has become a full time job for her.
You wanna keep your fans Jason? Stop treating some as more special than others. The latter is the way of career destruction.

I just read a post from Rosequeen in which she thanked Betsy for calling her on Saturday night. So that’s clearly fan favoritism.
Gulp.
And just the mention of it is for the sole purpose of showing how important she is in the fandom.
So typical.
Yes, and this kind of behavior will continue to happen and alienate every other fan as long as betsy is promoting certain people (you know this is the reason!) to jason and until someone muzzles this woman!
I was watching a YouTube video of the live feed of Jason’s concert in Tulsa when Jackie, Michael and Mandy were talking to a few of Jason’s fans. Then Rosequeen comes on and writes something…can’t remember what it was, but I remember Jackie saying “Oh, Rosequeen…I know you.” It made me roll my eyes. Not because Rosequeen got a special shoutout from Jackie, but because this woman seems to be EVERYWHERE! She and the other rah rahs irk me so much and it really makes me furious when I read all their ass-kissing posts and their bragging. And Betsy is allowing it to happen? Jason needs to tell his mother nicely to butt out or his career will be ruined.
I can only imagine what will happen if Michael and Jackie start their own careers.
Nikaia you are so right. This all began with the infamous gift card. That is where the fan base split and if betsy had done something to end this ass kissing right there it would never have ruined his career as much as it has already. He lost many fans…who went from hot to at best lukewarm. And betsy just keeps on keeping on. Like she is addicted to all the attention she gets from these over the top fools! They feed on each other and it is sick and harmful to Jason.
After what’s been going on with Jason, I don’t think I really want Michael to be on Idol…I don’t think people will take him that seriously, anyway. As for Jackie, I like her, but I’m disappointed in her. I thought she’d want to pursue a career, but I think she’s actually satisfied gaining all this attention from her brother’s fans. So, I doubt we’ll be seeing Jackie in a movie or releasing an album or whatever right now. She and Betsy clearly are enjoying the attention from the rah rahs. Rene seems to be the only one who has any sense at all–he keeps himself out of the spotlight and doesn’t really try to use his son’s fame to his own advantage.
Before Mandy kicked off all of Jason’s fans from her MySpace, I noticed several rah rahs posting messages to her. Who knows…maybe some of their messages made her sick and she couldn’t bare to read them. haha.

So do you know why she dumped him? Or is she the dumpee coz she seems to be very bitter about the breakup. Deleting her Myspace and removing Jason and her pictures with him from her Facebook, etc.. Do you have any inside info? You can talk about it here y’know

I can’t speak for the meet and greet at the concert or the myspace comments, but I know no one got special treatment at B and N, even Kali. She was behind me and went through the line just as fast as everyone else. And I stayed and watched every last person go through. From the accounts of those that went through the meet and greet line, it went even faster and there was no time for any special treatment. I don’t know about behind the scenes, but not much was happening in the open at Garland.
If there are people who are in the “in” crowd with the Castro’s, that is puzzling to me. Whether it’s going to ruin Jason’s career is doubtful. Betsy must see some value in knowing them and you know it’s not for personal reasons, but to further Jason’s career somehow. I can’t say how I would handle dealing with fame and trying to promote a family member. I hope they learn some things along the way.
