I heard Michael Castro’s song today on his new myspace music page. (I have looked everywhere and cannot find the link again, so if you have it please put it on here).
I was rather surprised by what I heard as one is always hearing that Michael is the true singer in the family. I didn’t care for this performance. And, to quote old Randy, “it was a little pitchy for me”. It was way pitchy. I believe he sang nearly the entire song out of tune. Now, it is not like this was a one shot take or something, remember. They worked on this, no doubt. So, the pitchiness has me concerned that this may, indeed, be an ongoing part of his performances.
I also found his voice a little rough. Ragged sounding. Now, that might just be me. And maybe with the right song this could sound sexy.
But, all in all, I don’t think Michael Castro made the top 12 males for American Idol this year. If he did it would only be due to the Castro name, in my opinion. And lastly: Why would he be starting a page with his own music on it if he had signed a contract with American Idol……huh?
I saw this blog on my Google Alert for Jason Castro. I have to disagree with your opinion of MCas’s song. My son and I each have a very sensitive ear to pitch and we thought Michael’s pitch was fantastic. I love the roughness of his voice, but then I normally like that sort of singer.

Zelda, Michael removed his first version of “This Boy” after a few hundred plays and reposted a cleaner rendition of it late the same day. The first version was very raspy and had a few flat notes, perhaps that’s the song you heard? The new song is much better and if there’s a flat note, I haven’t noticed.
I like Michael’s voice a lot more than I would have expected. He has an interesting and pleasant sound with similarities to Jason although very different. I’d like to hear Michael sing a few more songs, but it seems to me that he has potential. I hope he makes it onto American Idol.
As far as Michael being the “true singer in the family,” well, I only heard Jason say that once in Michael’s AI audition video… Jason was probably just being modest, as usual.
Yeah, the first version of the song was terrible and I think Michael knew that, too. Why else would he take it down and put up a new one? He stated in his blog that he did the first recording in Jackie’s bedroom, just fooling around. He put it up, not really realizing that people had already found his MySpace page up so quickly, so he recorded a much better version with the quickness.

However, I don’t think Michael is really going to be in the Top 12, regardless of how he sounds. Like Zelda said, they would really only put him through because of his relation to Jason. And to whoever said that Michael is the true singer in the family, I personally, believe that there’s plenty of room for everybody. After all, Michael Jackson became a super success as did Janet.
Now we’ll just have to wait and see what Jackie can do.

UNTIL THE SHOW AIRS THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT AS FAR AS I KNOW. I DO KNOW THAT A LOT OF RANDOM FANS WERE REQUESTING ADDS ON HIS PERSONAL MYSPACE SO HE CREATED ANOTHER FOTR HIS FANS. MAKES SENSE AND IT KEEPS HIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY PAGE PRIVATE WHILE LETTING HIS FANS HAVE A PLACE TO GATHER ON MYSPACE.
That makes sense. I guess this is clue number one that Michael is NOT in the Top 40 or whatever they’re calling it at this point. So, I kinda laugh when I read people who say they’re gonna keep their fingers crossed for him and they’re looking forward to seeing Michael so they can see Jason in the audience…wishful thinking on their part. I do, however, think Jason will shown on TV again for Michael’s audition. At least everyone will get THAT. Not that I’m complaining, of course.
